Complaints rarely stand alone. We look beyond the location of the pain to the full context: load, recovery, stress, sleep and lifestyle. With this holistic approach we find the cause of your complaint and address it at the root.

As a holistic physiotherapist we approach a complaint with more focus on the cause than on directly resolving it. We work from the premise that body and mind are connected. We look at the person from five levels: physical (the body), mental (thoughts and beliefs), emotional (feelings and emotional state), energetic (energy fields) and spiritual (deeper meaning).
Example: a patient comes to us with neck pain, 'probably slept on it wrong'. We can resolve the neck pain on the assumption that it is a one-off. But the chance the same patient comes back soon with the same complaint is then higher. The neck pain may stem from stress (muscle tension), poor training technique (training too fast, too heavy, or using the wrong muscle groups), or from a hip alignment issue.
Holistic physiotherapy is gaining ground — and rightly so. Where we used to focus mostly on the pain location, we now look much more broadly and include many more factors in the treatment plan.

In practice we take ample time for the intake, where we ask about all these factors to build a clear picture. During the intake we look together at the information available and which information fits your symptom pattern.
With our knowledge and experience and your story, we sketch a clear picture of what we believe is needed to resolve your complaint. If a multidisciplinary approach is needed, we can also connect you with nutritionists, orthopaedic specialists and GPs.
We know pain does not always correspond to damage in or to the body, so the experience of pain plays a major role in the recovery from movement-related complaints.
If you are uncertain about what is going on or have been looking up information online, you may have formed a distorted picture of how serious your complaint is. We call these 'illness beliefs'. Your idea about the severity of your symptoms can amplify pain — but fortunately also reduce it.

We take ample time to ask about all the factors. Load, sleep, stress, nutrition, sport and mental state. The full picture, not just the pain location.
Physical, mental, emotional, energetic and spiritual. We look from all levels and build a treatment plan that fits your symptom pattern.
The goal is not just to resolve your complaint, but to prevent it from coming back. For that we need to know where it comes from.
Illness beliefs play a major role in pain. We help you understand your complaint so that your idea about its severity is accurate, which speeds up recovery.
Short lines to nutritionists, orthopaedic specialists and GPs. Where the holistic approach calls for a broader team, we connect quickly.

No. Holistic physiotherapy remains evidence-based physiotherapy. We use the same diagnostics, exercise therapy and strength training, but include more factors than just the pain location. Load, sleep, stress and mental state are proven factors in pain experience and recovery.
Illness beliefs are the ideas you have about the severity of your complaint. Often shaped by what you hear, read or find online. Research shows that an inaccurate or exaggerated picture can amplify pain. Conversely, a realistic picture supports recovery.
Yes. For a multidisciplinary approach we connect with nutritionists, orthopaedic specialists and GPs. We do this where needed, not by default. We do what fits your symptom pattern.
Yes, we take ample time for the intake. We ask about all factors potentially relevant to your complaint. That costs time upfront, but results in a much more targeted treatment afterwards.
Yes. Even with acute complaints it makes sense to understand the context. Otherwise the chance is high that the complaint returns. Sometimes acute treatment is all that is needed, sometimes there is more at play.

Cedrine helped me enormously with the recovery of recurring knee complaints. Within a few months the strength difference between both legs was minimal.
I've been helped tremendously by multiple members of the team for various issues over the course of about a year now. Not all team members have been my PT, but I have met them all and they are all great.
