I received excellent care and guidance throughout my ACL and meniscus surgery journey. From the preparation phase to the recovery process, I felt fully supported with a clear plan and weekly progression.
A physiotherapist who looks beyond the injury itself. At Movement Based Therapy we start with a thorough intake, map your capacity to handle load, and build a tailored programme from there. Direct access, no GP referral required.
You can come to us for physiotherapy at our locations in Houthavens (Amsterdam-West), NDSM (Amsterdam-North) and Oostenburg (Amsterdam-East). During the first consultation we map your symptoms and set up a treatment plan together. We think it is important that you know where you stand, so at the end of the intake we give you an estimate of the treatment duration so you know exactly what to expect.

Movement is the starting point of every treatment. During the intake we thoroughly investigate what is needed to reach your goal. All our therapists are trained in a range of treatment techniques that can contribute to this. At Movement Based Therapy we always work with the latest developments in rehabilitation and diagnostics. We combine the best research methods with our clinical experience to deliver the most effective care possible. This is what we call 'evidence based medicine' combined with our hands-on experience, 'practice based medicine'.
Our physiotherapists treat a broad range of conditions. The most common:
We work according to our four-phase method: Discover, Educate, Recreate, Evaluate.
At the end of your intake you know where you stand. An estimate of the programme and a plan ready to go.
Objective measurements using professional testing equipment. Strength, mobility and capacity to handle load are mapped out, so progress becomes measurable.
The latest research in rehabilitation and diagnostics, combined with our clinical experience.
Every rehabilitation is translated into an active approach. Hands-on techniques are used to create the conditions for movement.
No, physiotherapy is directly accessible in the Netherlands. You can book an appointment without a referral. We carry out the screening during your intake.
In 2026 we have contracts with several health insurers. If you are insured with one of these, you are covered for a number of physiotherapy sessions, depending on your supplementary health insurance. Always check with your own insurer to confirm that you have physiotherapy coverage and how many sessions are included.
The intake takes 60 minutes. Enough time to map your symptoms, set up a treatment plan and start with a first treatment.
This varies per condition. At the end of your intake we give you a realistic estimate of the treatment programme so you know what to expect.
Regular physiotherapy focuses on restoring function. Sports physiotherapy goes further and uses sport-specific testing, strength training and clear return-to-sport criteria. We offer both at all locations.

Cedrine helped me enormously with my recovery from recurring knee complaints. Within a few months the strength difference between both legs was minimal.
I've been helped tremendously by multiple members of the team for various issues over the course of about a year now. Not all team members have been my PT, but I have met them all and they are all great.
